At My Nova Books, we believe in the power of stories to inspire, educate, and comfort. Recently, we were honored to support the UNC Hospital School by donating MP3 players, headphones, a charging station, and—just for fun—glow sticks to bring extra smiles to the students receiving care at the UNC Children’s Hospital.
Meeting a Crucial Need
According to Principal Marny Ruben, traditional books are among the school’s biggest expenses because once a child checks out a physical book, that child keeps it. Audiobooks, on the other hand, can significantly reduce these costs while still fostering a love of reading. With the donated MP3 players, the UNC Hospital School can provide multiple children with access to audiobooks—without having to replace physical copies each time.
Enhancing the Learning Experience
One of the major benefits of MP3 players is the ability to thoroughly sanitize and reuse them. This ensures that each new patient has a safe, clean way to enjoy audiobooks. Plus, because the devices work offline, children can focus on their education without the distraction of internet access. By offering immersive stories and educational content, the hospital school continues to make learning feel more engaging and less like a hospital stay.
Looking Ahead
Principal Ruben expressed heartfelt gratitude for our contribution, noting how these donations will help enhance each student’s overall educational experience. We at My Nova Books share in that gratitude for the opportunity to give back to an organization that works tirelessly to ensure children in the hospital keep up with their studies and maintain a sense of normalcy.
We look forward to supporting the UNC Hospital School’s endeavors in the coming year with future donations and continued collaboration. Together, we can help children find comfort, distraction, and learning opportunities through audiobooks—stories that spark imagination and make hospital stays a bit brighter.
